Common questions from Australian clinicians

Is PatientNotes compliant with the Australian Privacy Act?

Yes. PatientNotes operates under data processing agreements aligned with the Privacy Act 1988 and APP (Australian Privacy Principles). We can provide data residency options, sign agreements with practices, and support requests under APP 12 (access) and APP 13 (correction).

Where is patient data stored?

PatientNotes hosts in EU and US regions today. Australian-region hosting via AWS Sydney is available for practices that require it; ask during onboarding. Audio is not retained beyond note generation.

Does it work with Best Practice, MedicalDirector, Genie, or Helix?

Yes via copy-paste and our browser extension. PatientNotes generates structured note text that fits cleanly into any Australian PMS field — progress notes, consult notes, letters. Direct API integration with Best Practice and MedicalDirector is on the roadmap.

Can it generate MBS-aligned notes for Medicare items?

Yes. Templates exist for Health Assessments (item 701/703/705/707), GP Management Plans (721), Team Care Arrangements (723), Mental Health Treatment Plans (2700/2701/2715/2717), and standard B/C/D consults. The clinician selects the relevant template before recording.

How does pricing work in AUD?

Approximately AUD $80–$110 per user per month, billed monthly with no contract. Annual billing offers a small discount. Charged via Stripe at the live FX rate.

Does it work with MyMedicare-registered patients?

Yes. PatientNotes generates the documentation needed for MyMedicare-registered patients, including longer consults (Level D, E) and care plan documentation. The MyMedicare program affects billing logic, not note structure.

Does it support telehealth consults?

Yes. PatientNotes records the audio from any consult — in-room or telehealth. For telehealth via Zoom, Teams, or Coviu, run PatientNotes on your computer and select the system audio source. The note generates the same way.
