What an AI scribe does
An AI scribe listens and writes the clinical note for you. Instead of typing after every visit, you talk, and the scribe turns what was said into a structured note: what the patient reported, what you found, your assessment and the plan. Some scribes work from dictation; ambient scribes listen to the whole conversation in the room. Read more in our guide to ambient scribes.
What this free AI scribe does, and what it doesn't
This page is an honest, limited sample:
- Recordings stop at 60 seconds. That is enough to dictate a summary after a visit, not to record the visit itself.
- It writes one note at a time, in SOAP format by default, or DAP and BIRP for therapy.
- Usage is capped at 5 notes an hour and 15 a day per visitor, and 5 recordings an hour.
- Nothing is saved. Copy the note before you leave the page.
PatientNotes, the full product, records whole visits on your phone or in the browser, writes the note in your own template (37 specialties are built in, and you can edit any of them), suggests ICD-10 and CPT codes, and formats the note to paste cleanly into your EHR.
How to get a good note from dictation
- Dictate right after the visit, while it is fresh. Speak in the order you would write: complaint, history, exam findings, your assessment, the plan.
- Say the numbers. Vitals, doses, durations and scores are kept exactly as you say them, and nothing is added that you did not say.
- Leave out identifiers. Do not say the patient's name or date of birth. Age and sex are fine.
- Check the transcript. The transcript stays in the text box under the recorder. If a word was misheard, fix it and generate again.
